Transportation:

    Car Rental - Dollar Rent-a-Car - 4 wheel drive suggested

   Ferry Service -  A ferry shuttle service runs from Lanai to Lahaina 2-3 times a day

Ocean Sports:

    Swimming Beaches - Hulopo'e Beach and nearby tide pools 

    Scuba - The cathedrals are offshore rock formations with caves, arches and connecting passageways.  

    Beachcombing - Shipwreck Beach at Kaiolohia Bay is an excellent area to find treasures.  

    Fishing - Spinning Dolphin Fishing Charters (808-565-6613).

Outdoor Activities:

    Golf - The two major hotels on the island offer up several challenging courses, The Experience at Koele (808-565-4653) and The Challenge at Manele (808-565-2222).

    Cavendish Golf Course - A public 9-hole, par 36 course, is nestled in the pines of the city. The course is free to residents while visitors are requested to leave a donation to help with its maintenance.

Hiking

    Munro Trail - Off of Keomoku Hwy, the 7 mile trail provides a spectacular view of 6 of the 8 Hawaiian Islands (808-565-7600). 

    Lana'i hale - The best known stop and the highest peak on Lanai.  It provides a pnaoramic view of Lanai, Maui, Molokai, Kaho'olawe, Hawaii, & Oahu.

    Luahiwa Petroglyphs - South of Lanai City, off of Manele Road,  there are several boulders with picture writings that date back to the 19th century Hawaiians (808-565-7600).

    Kanepu'u (The Garden of the Gods) - This natural wonder of eroded landscape and rock formations portray an amazing picture (808-565-7600).

Fisherman's Coastal Trail

    Koloiki Ridge - A 5 mile trail starting from the Koele Lodge.

    Horseback Riding - Originating from the Koele stables, trails will take you around the (808-565-7300)

Tennis:

The Manele Bay Hotel and the Lodge at Koele both have tennis courts.  

Shopping: No major malls, but you will find some local gift shops around the town square or at the hotels.  Our favorite is Gifts of Aloha!

Groceries: Richards shopping center, international food and clothing center and Pine Isle Market.  

Sightseeing:

    Lanai City -  Settled under 60ft Norfolk pine trees Lanai City offers up a relaxing atmosphere while strolling through various shops and eateries.  

    Club Lanai - Located on Keomoku Beach, Club Lanai offers a nice secluded getaway atmosphere.  Activities, lounging, lunch, snorkeling, and much more are available.  

    Sacred ruins of Kaunolu - south shore

    Pu'upehe or Sweetheart Rock at Manele Bay - this towering rock formation is the sad Hawaiian legend of a maiden so beautiful, her jealous husband kept her hidden away in a sea cave. They lived happily until one day when the husband left her alone and she drowned by a sudden storm surf. He buried her on the summit of this giant rock where her grave is still visible then lept to his death grief stricken. The rock is named for the maiden.

    Manele Boat Harbor - departure point for the ferry to & from Lahina Maui, whale watching cruises, deep sea fishing charters, catamaran & ocean rafting excursions.

    Kaunolu - Located on the south shore, Kanoulu is the site of an ancient Hawaiian fishing village and heiau. It later became the summer home of King Kamehameha I.
